This is holy ground

We’re standing on holy ground,

For the Lord is here

And where He is is holy.

This is holy ground,

We’re standing on holy ground,

For the Lord is here

And where He is is holy.

We are standing on holy ground,

And I know that there are angels all around.

Let us praise Jesus now.

We are standing in His presence

On holy ground.

These are holy hands,

He’s given us holy hands,

He works through these hands

And so these hands are holy.

These are holy hands,

He’s given us holy hands,

He works through these hands

And so these hands are holy.

We are standing on holy ground,

And I know that there are angels all around.

Let us praise Jesus now.

We are standing in His presence

On holy ground.

This song is actually made of parts of 2 songs, which have been run together to make one. They fit together rather well.

Questions

1.   The expression “Holy Ground” comes from Exodus 3:1-6, where Moses meets God in the burning bush. What made the ground holy? What does holy mean?

2.   In the Bible lots of things are called “holy”. See Genesis 2:3, Exodus 19:23, 29:37, 30:22-29. What is the basic principle here?

3.   Where is the Lord, according to verse 1? See Joel 3:17, Acts 7:44-50 and 17:24.

4.   The “chorus” talks about there being “angels all around”. What scriptural support is there for this statement? See 2 Kings 6:9-17, Matthew 26:52-54, Psalm 91:11-12 and Luke 2:8-14. What does this mean for us today?

5.   Verse 2 speaks of “holy hands”. What does it say about why they are holy?

6.   How do we carry this principle over into all of our lives? See Romans 12:1-2, 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, Ephesians 5:3-6 and 2 Timothy 1:8-9.

7.   Read 1 Peter 2:9-17 and see what it has to say about what the church is and what it is for.

Song Study 12: Meekness and Majesty

Song Study (12) MEEKNESS AND MAJESTY This is a modern hymn by Graham Kendrick (UK), written in 1986. Like the earlier hymns we have examined, it is based on Scripture and contains some difficult words. The message of the song is “ When God became man in the form of Jesus he came as a servant. This is what he expects of us too. ” Rather than a series of questions, let’s look at a series of “key Scriptures” to help us understand what this means and how we are to respond to God’s grace.  Meekness and Majesty:  Meekness And Majesty - Graham Kendrick Lyric Video - YouTube                                Meekness and majesty, Manhood and Deity, In perfect harmony, The Man who is God. Lord of eternity Dwells in humanity, Kneels in humility And washes our feet.      O what a mystery, Meekness and majesty. Bow down and worship For this is your God, This is your God. Father’s pure radiance, Perfect in innocence, Yet learns obedience To death on a cross. Su
